Bedlam Kickstarter is the chaotic RPG we’ve been waiting for

Get ready to roam the dangerous and harsh wastelands of Bedlam! This new Kickstarter project is being developed by Austin indie dev team Skyshine Games, whose members have worked on many influential gaming and comic projects in the past (Unreal Tournament /Heavy Metal). Using “The Banner Saga” engine, Skyshine Games is working to create a chaotic, post-apocalyptic RPG in the vein of FTL or XCOM. All of the characters and landscapes have their own beautifully crafted and unique styles, which is something that sets Bedlam apart from a lot of other video games in the same genre. In Bedlam, you will take command of a crew of engineers and soldiers in search of a mysterious utopia called “Aztec City”.

Bedlams style is creatively influenced by gritty 80’s / 90’s movies and comic books (The Road Warrior and Frank Millers “Hard Boiled” come to mind). Bedlams game play fuses isometric camera angles and strategic turn based combat. The game also features the “blitz battle system”. This turn based system features swift play, no turn-order, strategic movement and attacks, crew-buffing Dozer upgrades, and Dozer weapons for maximum destruction! At first glance, the game looks like a motion graphic novel with an added layer of tense, strategic action that will keep things interesting between dialogue.

As you travel the wastelands, you will encounter many challenges in the form of radioactive territories, nano plagues, marauders, and mutant infestations.  Players will discover ancient technologies, elite crew members and secret artifacts. Collecting resources after completing quests or defeating enemies is an important part of your journey through Bedlam, and you will have to make sure your party is well equipped and fed to survive.

Overall, Bedlam looks bad ass as hell! Its style is refreshing and sets itself apart from other games in it’s genre. Being a huge fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, comic books, and RPG’s, this game combines everything I have been waiting for and I am really looking forward to the backer updates for this project!
